From Seattle to Kentucky

Jody got an exciting email today from Jennifer at the Bowling Green, KY Obama campaign office. He’d sent them the batch of buttons that got made at the IN & NC watch party. They were so happy to get them (read her email in the sidebar) and we want to share her excitement and thanks with everyone that helped make the buttons and donated for the supplies and shipping! It’s hearing feedback like this that makes this all worthwhile and keeps us charged up and inspired.

The effort to make that batch of buttons was a real communal effort among Obama supporters and delegates here in Seattle, and now they are in KY helping the Obama community there get the word out about Obama. I imagine Jennifer and her folks are a group of people just as amazing as the Obama supporters here in Seattle, or Bev and her gang in Hope Mills/Fayetteville, NC. It overwhelms me how these little trinkets have become the vehicle for connecting people, one person to another and one community to another, sometimes across vast distances. I never thought they would come to embody so much power–a small tangible piece of the collaboration and common purpose this campaign and movement is all about.

Thanks ya’ll! You rock!

We also got a batch of buttons sent off tonight to our Pacific Northwest neighbors in Oregon via Seattle Obama delegate Chelsea Kellogg. She’s driving down to Eugene to help with their get out the vote efforts for their primary on May 20. Thanks so much Chelsea!
