Excitement is in the air
We’re a little behind here, bear with us. We’ve got many things to post, but Saturday was our Congressional District Caucus (7th CD, Washington state), where our delegates to the national convention were chosen. We’ve been very busy with that and now are just plain exhausted. It was an incredible day though. We campaigned hard but unfortunately Jody didn’t make the final cut of delegates to the national convention. However, the 7th is sending a fantastic Obama delegation to Denver!! More on that later when I get some photos posted, but I AM SO PROUD of who the delegates chose. It sends a great message to the rest of the country about who we are here–progressive, diverse, inclusive, timely and fired up!
It was great for me to finally meet button maker Sal Celis, and I met another Seattle Obama button maker, Christy! Christy makes tiny little Obama buttons. We traded buttons and I’ll get some photos up of hers, as well as some other buttons and pins I got there. (Christy, if you read this please email me at the email address on the contact page. I’m having trouble with the email address you gave me…probably my tired eyes…)
Also, we launched a new button, the Yes WA Can button. It was inspired by the awesome Obama folks we have in this state that we’ve been fortunate enough to meet through the caucus and delegate process. We firmly believe the organizing skills, creative talent, enthusiasm and general all out can-do attitude we have among our droves of Obama supporters in WA will have a great effect on the general election. Watch out, WA folks are coming to a battle ground state near you! Yes WA Can!
There’s another watch party planned for this Tuesday and we’ll be making buttons there again. Come on out! This time we’ll be watching results from Kentucky and Oregon. We’re expecting Oregon to put Obama over the top in delegates, so should be an exciting gathering. I’m proud of our dear Pacific Northwest neighbor, not only for the role they will play in this campaign but also for what happened yesterday. WTG PDX!
We’re now looking to Washington’s State Convention on June 14 in Spokane. The state Democratic platform will be voted on there as well as the election of “at large” delegates to the national convention. Jody could still run there as an “at large” delegate. I’m sure he’ll make a final decision about that once the fog of exhaustion lifts.
