Daniel O’Brien Heads For Big Sky Country
One of the hardest working Obama supporters we have met, Daniel O’Brien, stopped by our house this morning on his way to Montana to volunteer for the campaign. We wouldn’t want Daniel to drive all the way to Missoula and show up empty handed now would we? So Joann and I stayed up late last night making buttons for Daniel’s trip.
When I first met Daniel I was passing out Obama buttons at West Seattle high school at one of the local political events. He said, “I’ve seen these buttons before, in East Texas. They were a hot item!” Now I know that our buttons made it out to East Texas because I mailed them there, but I was somehow amazed at the interconnection of this movement. That people like Daniel, who lives just a short ferry ride away from my neighborhood were the people volunteering in places like East Texas. Sleeping on floors and putting untold miles on their vehicles because they believed in this candidate. Because they believed in themselves to change this country.
